Good to see the police out and about tonight, Sudbury is not the little Mining Community it used to be!
1st one was a typical girl friend call’s police on bad boy friend. Please have the young man removed from the Property! I remember when it was a Patty Wagon, and not a Cab!..and you weren’t the only one in Patty..It would deliver you to the Police Station, only when FULL!..Fuel was so much cheaper back then..ugh!
2nd one, doesn’t make to much sense..This young Lady organized a Pub Crawl..Don’t know what a Pub Crawl is well back in my Navy Day’s, most simple seaman would nestle to the nearest Bar from the ship, and then Crawl home..I guess things have changed now..
So this young talented Lady organized a Pub Crawl of 130 people, their Job was to basically go from Bar to Bar, do their thing have some fun, and make it safely home..No small feat for 130 people..Well the story I heard when i got my 2nd Police Call..is that every-one made it Home just fine, but the College, had some sort of restriction on WHO can spend the night!..Well I hope the Young Lady, tells her story! Because it did not Make sense..and it seemed like the school, almost invited drinking and Driving..At the End of the Night!
AND .. It was a Cool 5 degrees tonight, and some of them where huddled in the Back Seat of their Car’s With-out the Key’s in the ignition because they Know Better. Just trying to Keep Warm!!
That’s when they got Busted!!!
Happy Mileage,
Cabby Ken

Thanks for the ride home the other night. I told you I would come and tell you my story so here it goes.
Residence has a sign in policy that makes vistors sign in between 8pm and 1am and if you don’t make it in that time frame you are not allowed on residence property. My misfortune is that I organized a pub crawl that made everyone meet in a parking lot at 7:45pm and we didn’t come back until after bar hours at 2:30am. So I was out of luck when it came to signing in. When I arrived back on residence feeling a little tipsy after a few good hours of crawling pubs I just needed to go to bed. I was directed to leave and like you mentioned it was COLD outside. I sat in my car (in the back seat with the car off) trying to figure out a game plan with a friend. One of the residence officials came to my car and told me that if I came back on rez property that I would be charged with trespassing and if my friend who lived on rez snuck me in he would be fined $150.00. We explained this was not the case and we were trying to figure something out. After still sitting in the car for another 20mins he came back, this time with friends…campus security, a team of residence assistants, and the two officers working our campus that night. Again he asked us to get out of the car and again we said we were trying to figure something out. At this point the officer called a cab.
Now I guess you are probably wondering why we didn’t call a cab in the first place. Well I live a good 20mins out of town, it is somewhat of an expensive ride for a college student on her own.
Although I am mad at residence policy I am happy about the final outcome as I have now met Cabby Ken and been able to share this story.
I understand there needs to be structure and rules in residence or people can get hurt. But sometimes the policy is more problematic then useful, lucky for me I had a friend that gave me money for the ride home. But what is a student who has no money, or lives hours out of town, or just has no where to suppose to do? Drinking and driving almost becomes the only option, and as winter creeps up on us more and the nights get colder I fear that this will happen more often. Residence needs to offer more options that don’t lead to fatal decisions behind the wheel.
Thanks again for the ride Cabby Ken.
